WORKSHOPS

121 & SMALL GROUP

MooCows

I offer a range of outdoor workshops & editing tutorials to suit individual needs and ability levels in and around the South East, typically in and around the Ashridge area.

Ahead of a workshop I would review a few images to get a flavour of your ability level and style and then we can tailor our time together accordingly. But as a rough outline we would work on:

  • Understanding the settings - ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed. Helping a beginner move away from "auto"

  • Composition - simplifying scenes and de-cluttering images

  • Appreciation of details - the mindfulness of photography

  • Panoramics, focus stacking, Exposure Bracketing - learning useful landscape techniques

  • Intentional camera movement (ICM), multiple exposure and other creative techniques

  • Developing your own style

  • And much more...

Client Reviews

"I have now attended two group workshops with Simon and find him an excellent tutor.  He takes time to assess the expectations and ability of his students, is patient and very giving of his considerable photographic knowledge and skill.  A very enjoyable and inspiring half day." Ross

"My workshop with Simon was one of the most enjoyable days of photography I've experienced. Simon took the time to understand exactly where I was in my photography journey and what help I needed to progress. Simon has a very thoughtful and engaging character and his continual attentiveness, advice and attention to detail made the day both exceptionally productive and enjoyable. I came away with some great images but much more importantly, I gained confidence in making images that matter to me and understanding in how to make them.

I would encourage anyone wanting to develop a thoughtful and measured approach to their landscape photography to book a day with Simon." Julian

"Simon is a great teacher! He gives excellent advice on the compositional, creative and technical aspects of photography, and has taught me a lot.  He wants clients to get the very best out of his workshops, and is definitely patient!" Libby

"I recently went on a group workshop for "intimate landscapes" hosted by Simon. It was a very enjoyable evening and helped me improve my photography considerably. Simon had clearly researched the area in advance and was able to take us to some very interesting locations, at the right time of day for the natural light. He gave us all several suggestions for possible shots and spent time with each of us to ensure we got the best out of the workshop." Alvin
